Units to mL on a U-100 syringe
100 units is 1 mL, so each unit is 0.01 mL. The last column shows which barrel the amount fits.
| Units | mL | Fits a barrel of |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0.01 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 2 | 0.02 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 5 | 0.05 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 10 | 0.10 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 15 | 0.15 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 20 | 0.20 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 25 | 0.25 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 30 | 0.30 mL | 0.3 mL, 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 40 | 0.40 mL | 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 50 | 0.50 mL | 0.5 mL, 1 mL |
| 60 | 0.60 mL | 1 mL |
| 70 | 0.70 mL | 1 mL |
| 75 | 0.75 mL | 1 mL |
| 80 | 0.80 mL | 1 mL |
| 90 | 0.90 mL | 1 mL |
| 100 | 1.00 mL | 1 mL |
Check the scale on your syringe
This converter is for U-100 insulin syringes, the ones with an orange needle cover: 100 units in 1 mL. Two other scales are made for other insulins, and a unit on them is a different volume.
- U-40 syringes have a red needle cover and hold 40 units in 1 mL, so 1 unit is 0.025 mL.
- U-500 syringes have a green needle shield and hold 500 units in 1 mL, so 1 unit is 0.002 mL.
A U-100 answer read on a U-40 or U-500 syringe gives the wrong volume. The scale is printed on the barrel and the box.
Units are a volume, not a dose
A unit on the syringe is 0.01 mL whatever is in it. How much peptide that holds depends on the mix: in 5 mg mixed with 2 mL of water, each unit holds 25 mcg; with 1 mL of water, 50 mcg. The peptide calculator turns your dose into units for your vial, and the semaglutide units to mg converter does it for semaglutide.
Other calculators
- Peptide reconstitution calculatorThe water to add to the vial so your dose is the number of units you want to draw.
- Units to mg converterThe mg in the units you draw, or the units for an amount in mg, from the strength of your vial.
- Tirzepatide dosage calculatorUnits to draw for a tirzepatide dose, from the mg in the vial and the mL of liquid in it.
- Semaglutide units to mgThe mg in the units you draw of a semaglutide vial, or the units for a dose, from the strength printed on the vial.
Questions
How many mL is 10 units?
0.1 mL on a U-100 syringe. 20 units is 0.2 mL and 25 units is 0.25 mL.
How many units is 0.5 mL?
50 units: a full 0.5 mL syringe, or half of a 1 mL one.
Is a unit smaller on a 0.3 mL syringe?
No. A unit is 0.01 mL on every U-100 syringe. A 0.3 mL syringe holds 30 units with its lines closer together, every unit or every half unit, which makes small amounts easier to read.
Does a reusable insulin pen use the same units?
Yes, a pen for U-100 cartridges dials the same units: 1 unit is 0.01 mL, and a 3 mL cartridge holds 300 units. The peptide calculator has a pen mode with the dial steps of each model.
